Bio-Start Protocol

Our two-part Bio-Start consists of two powerful products, that when used in conjunction, improve germination, drought tolerance, plant nutrient uptake and rock mineral digestion. This combination can enhance the speed of rooting and early plant growth.

Two Parts

  • Bio-Start Part 1 ~Humic Acid, Yucca, Seaweed (liquid)
  • Bio-Start Part 2 ~ Fungal inoculant (powder)

Uses – Refer to Bio-Start Applications Sheet for details.

  • SEEDS – Spray on seeds before germination.
  • CLONING – Dip fresh cuttings, first in Part I (liquid), then in Part II (powder).
  • TRANSPLANTING
    • Use Part I & II at first transplant stage.
    • Use Part I at every transplant stage.
    • Pre-soak small transplants in Part I for up to 24 hours (see application rates).
    • Give first watering of transplants with Part I.

Seed Treatment

  4. Spray seed until damp & stir seeds

  6. Repeat spray until damp & stir seeds
  7. Repeat spray until water begins to pool & stir seeds
  8. Spread seed out.  Drain off any pooling water
  9. Let dry at room temperature out of sun and at a low humidity
  10. Stir seed occasionally seed should completely dry in 2-3 hours
  11. Germinate seeds as you normally would

Clone Treatment

  1. Use ¼ cup Bio-Start Concentrate to 1 gallon water
  2. Drench individual plants or entire flood table on the second watering of the first day of new cuttings
  3. Soak 24 hours. (Drained water can be used, perhaps added to nutrient feed of older plants.)
  4. Use pH adjusted watering with next waterings
  5. Only one treatment at the pre-root stage is needed
  6. Repeat at transplant stage

Transplanting

…from clones or seedlings into small pots; or small pots into larger pots or the ground.

  1. 8 oz. of Bio-Start Concentrate + 1 gallon of water
  2. Saturate plants in pots for 24 hours prior to transplanting
  3. Make next watering minimal so as to not wash inoculant past the root zone

Drip Irrigation Treatment

  1. 1 gallon of Bio-Start Concentrate + 1200 gallons of water or other amount of water necessary to reach all drippers on one acre
  2. Pre-water seeds or plants heavily
  3. Use mixing tank or injection
